Heritage Science Strategic Framework: Collaborative Planning Workshop

News

Several weeks ago, members of the HSDS and ADS team recently participated in a pivotal workshop at the London Mathematical Society, hosted by the National Heritage Science Forum, focused on co-creating the delivery plan for the UK’s Strategic Framework for Heritage Science.

The hybrid event, held on 22nd January 2025, brought together professionals from across the heritage science sector to map existing activities, identify gaps, and plan collaborative initiatives. The workshop focused on the following themes:

  • Public value – measurable positive change for society resulting from heritage science.
  • Research – excellent research leading to new knowledge, understanding and innovation.
  • Community – an inclusive, confident, diverse and outward-looking heritage science community

Through discussions and collaborative sessions, our team contributed to mapping current activities, proposing new initiatives, and identifying potential areas for cross-sector collaboration. Also the interactive format allowed participants to network, discover new opportunities, and collectively shape the future of heritage science in the UK.

Outcomes from the workshop will help to inform the implementation of the strategic framework, ensuring a coordinated approach to advancing heritage science research, public engagement, and community building.
